Dating while separated in the military

I've "casually" dated an Army guy and a Marine guy. My ex didn't respect me--it took me snooping in order to figure out some of the crap he was saying to other women while we were together.

Sorry, but a lot of military men are very untrustworthy.

But I also know a LOT of girls that refuse to have anything to do with military men period for political or total BS reasons.

When I first met him I was hesitant to get involved with him.

While he had been discharged for a few years, he stated that he had thought about re-enlisting.

I'm not put off by that career in the least and i'm certainly not searching them out to marry for their benefits (how stupid to say! I have the utmost respect for them and find the fatigues a huge turn on myself. My son's father was in the Army but got out while we were together, so I never had to deal with him being deployed.

I have a lot of friends with military hubbies overseas and know what they go thru during the times alone.

Relationships can be work, why add the ordeal of distance to it??

You need to talk to some guys who have gone into service single and/or in relationships to see what their take on it is.All I can tell you is to be open to the possibility.I know a few couples that met and married in less than a year and they are honestly in love more each day. Scope out where you are getting station and beware of the "town girls".When you get stationed somewhere, don't be so quick to date the first woman that smiles in your face. If you have been dating someone for about 6 months, this will even start to make sense. You may be missing out on some of the best "dating/hook-ups" of your life as a young, single military man.
