My wireless network connection says validating identity

Self-install kit included the ARRIS model TG 862G/CT Wi-Fi tower modem.

I can only got rid of it by going to authentication tab and un-checked the Enable IEEE 802.1x thingy.

But since it will do no harm to my network or computer I will just leave them disabled for the time being.

I never mess with those settings, obviously I know nothing about the networking LOL.

My laptop the Authentication tab wasn’t even there for me to mess with.

I never really mess with those, I left them at the default settings but will check.

I’m not sure that is the Advanced tab you are talking about.Do you have the same security setting, router name, and IP address on the router? The computers have to match the new setting with the router. HOw do I reset the settings of the computers to match the new router? IEEE 802.1X is the standard which defines authentication against a RADIUS server.EAP type was “ Smart Card or other certificate” and Authenticate as computer when computer information is available was checked. Those were there as soon as I installed the XP on two of our desktops 2 years ago.Although I could do anything on the Internet and what not while my connection notification icon is waiting to be validated (it never did), it just annoying looking at a little dot going back and forth LOL.
